Welcome to my class!

In here we learn the fundamentals of playing your music instrument and tackle numerous kinds of music needed to participate in many different performance settings: Concert Band, pep band, jazz band, solos, small group ensembles, and more.

Listed below are the perfomances the Clarksville Band will participate in this year.

Dec 9, 12, 19, 20 - H.S. must attend 3

Jan 9, 16, 27, (not playing 10th) - H.S. must attend 2

Feb 6 - H.S. must attend 1

3. Concerts for 2008-9:

Nov 25th, Tuesday      DARE graduation for 5th grade
                                         (6th grade band only)
                                         1:45 pm elementary gym.

Dec 4th, Thursday Elementary Christmas (5th grade &

6th grade bands) Concert @ 7pm, High

School gym.

Dec 11th, Thursday Junior/Senior High (Junior High &

Senior High & Jazz) Christmas

Concert @ 7pm, elementary gym. Be here by 6:40 pm.

Feb 20th, Friday Jazz Bands/Vocal Concert .

7:00 pm elementary gym.

Be here by 6:45 pm.

Apr 3rd, Friday Grandparents Day, during

the school day (for 5th and

6th grade bands only).

The 5th grade, 6th grade, and Junior High will play at the Nursing home sometime during the last 2 weeks of school - to be announced.

May 25th, Monday Memorial Day

Parade at 11:00 am

Be here by 10:30. March out

to the cemetery at 10:45ish.

June 13th, Saturday Pioneer Day

Parade at 2:00 pm

Parade Practice will be on Friday morning.

Mandatory parade.

FIGURING YOUR GRADE

All students start at an "F." Lessons change this grade. But see below (Things that affect your grade).

1st QUARTER

1 lesson D

2 lessons C

3 lessons B

4 lessons A

2nd/3rd/4th QUARTERS

1 lesson D

2 lessons D+

3 lessons C

4 lessons C+

5 lessons B

6 lessons A

Three lessons need to be completed before each mid-term. If less than 3 are completed they cannot be made up after mid-term. This allows for consistent work throughtout the quarter, and not everything wedged in to the end of the quarter.

THINGS THAT AFFECT YOUR GRADE

Talking, when asked to be quiet.
Choosing not to play when needed.
Being sent to the office/study hall for being a disturbance.
Missing a concert without being excused or having an acceptable reason. (See below)
Missing morning marching practice which can result in student not being allowed to march.
Not attending required amount of basketball pep bands (high school only).

Ramifications of missing performances

Missing one concert with an unacceptible reason drops grade to an "F" until 2 hours of detention are made up, which must be made up the next week, at which time grade is raised to a "C". Missing a second concert drops grade to an "F" with no chance to make it up. Missing a third concert and the student is no longer in band.

Missing football marching performances without an acceptible reason results in detention given. Missing all results in dismissal from band.

Missing parades without an acceptible excuse results in detention.

These things will impact the grade.
